#Midweek Motivation ~ 6 Tips to Wake up!!! And sort your S#*! Out!!!

In my Previous Midweek Motivation post here  Wake Up and Sort your S#*! Out was my first Tip to success but I realise that this deserves a whole post of its own, so here goes.

1.     Wake Up!!! A good start to the day is half the battle.

Get up early, don’t waste your life sleeping. If you wake up early 5 days a week then your weekend sleep in will be all the more rewarding!

2.     Get out!

I know everyone has a different lifestyle especially those who work late or nights but try to see some daylight. Sunshine is linked to happiness, I know we haven’t gotten  a lot of it this summer. But we all need fresh air and vitamin D! So take a few minutes out of your busy schedule and go for a walk.

Exercise is always good but it’s difficult to get the time for it or the motivation!! But try to go for a little walk everyday even if it’s just to the shop!!

3.     Eat Well!

This is an obvious one!!! We are what we eat so eat well!

Unhealthy eating habits lead to serious health risks, including Diabetes, Heart Disease, Stroke, Kidney and Liver problems, respiratory problems, dental  issues  etc. ultimately you could go blind, have your limbs amputated and die so put down that takeaway! Extreme but true!

Scary bit over so Moderation is key.

On a day to day level or on a vanity level healthy eating will give you clear beautiful skin, more energy and a better outlook on life so more motivation!

So avoid processed foods and foods high in sugar, artificial sweeteners, salt or hydrogenated fats and oils. I have a mouth full of sweet teeth so this is very difficult for me I go through phases but what I know is if I buy a bag of chocolate or sweets I will eat all of them!!! The same with biscuits and cookies I can’t just eat one! So I just try not to buy sweets and candy every week.

Treat yourself to a good breakfast to set yourself up for the day, try some porridge with honey and cinnamon or blueberries and flaked almonds. I am loving Vanilla yoghurt, blueberries and chia seeds these days!

I don’t always manage my 5 a day but the ideas there!

Listen to your granny! Meat and 2 veg for dinner! I know not everyone eats meat but vegetables are always good. At least 2is what I was raised with.

Snacks I know I might seem like a bird eating nuts and seeds but they contain  good fats and protein.

If your reading this you are obviously into blogs so check out some foody ones or even what your favourite bloggers are eating!!! I found this very good for healthy treats deliciouslyella also Anna always eats well here Anna Sacone

Don’t go the other direction either, we need food to live!! To concentrate and to be motivated!!!

Then you can reward your healthy living with a treat! Good puppy!!

4.     Good housekeeping

As I previously said messy house messy head!!!

I don’t expect you to turn into Kim or Aggie overnight! Start small make your bed every morning. Clean your dishes after every meal, but your clothes on hangers or in the wash.

See I’m obsessed with storage and jars!!!

5.     Get a Hobby!!!

Knitting to Boxing you need something you can escape to so you can clear your thoughts.  I occasionally knit, I paint, I design and  make clothes and accessories and….

I have even done sweaty yoga…  Bikrim Yoga (check it out)

6. Get Some Sleep!!!

I don’t manage to get 12 hours every night. But sleep is important it allows our body and mind to recover from the activities of the day! You need it for good skin and clear thoughts. You will never be motivated if you’re always sleepy!

So that’s it, now the tough part implementing change!!!

DIY Clutch from Sunglasses Case

Trying to be more motivated so I just had time for this quick DIY Clutch today.

I've spotted a lot of tutorials and suggestions on Pinterest and it being summer-ish still there are sunglasses cases on sale everywhere and I can never have enough bags!!!!

So I got my supplies thanks to discount shops and sales.

Supplies:

Sunglasses case:                  Dealz                      €1.49
Lace (Giant knickers):         Penneys/Primark    €0.50
Rings:                                  Penneys/Primark    €0.50
Button
Hot Glue Gun
Super Glue
Needle and Thread
Scissors

This is sooo simple only took a few minutes!!!

I chose the 3 square rings and super glued them to the top of the sunglasses case.

Cut the lace (I used knickers as they are cheaper than lace and wider than most lace trims) to the size for a pocket. Sewed it up by hand to make a rectangle then sewed through the middle so my clutch has a pocket on each side of the opening.

Then I used the hot glue gun to stick the pocket to the clutch! (Be careful not to glue both sides you want the pockets to open!!!)

Sewed on a button (just love buttons) and done.

You don't need the pockets but its handy to stop everything falling out the sides when you open your clutch!!

Feel free to try this yourself and show me your creations!!!!

Then 2 years ago I found these sandals, which are a bit big on the ankles but I love them!!

Midweek Motivation ~ 5 Tips to Success~

Have you ever heard the saying the road to hell is paved with good intensions? Well it’s true so to save ourselves from eternal damnation we gotta get motivated!!! I am a self-confessed procrastinator but I’m trying to change that!!!

1.    Wake up!!! And Sort your S#*! Out!!!

A good start to the day is half the battle. Get out of bed with a positive outlook and treat yourself to a good breakfast to set yourself up for the day, try some porridge with honey and cinnamon or blueberries and flaked almonds.

Make the bed, messy house messy head! Declutter your home to declutter your head!

A nice warm shower will help wake you up and if you have the courage flick it to cold for a refreshing wakeup call (I don’t manage that every day)

Eat well, don’t forget your 5 a day!!! Avoid processed food! Everything is good in moderation!!!

Go for a walk!!!

Get some sleep!!!

2.    Stay Positive

Surround yourself with positivity. Don’t waste your time on negativity and negative people! Pin positive quotes around your room. See these cute ones from Penneys/Primark!

See the silver lining in every situation. What at first seems negative may not always turn out that way. Everything happens for a reason and Karma will be there for you!!!

3.    Make a list

Plan your day in advance and make a list of everything you must do, from shopping for food to studying. Organisation is the key to success! And do the most difficult thing first! There’s no point putting it off, if you avoided it today do it first thing tomorrow.

4.    Set Goals

Set yourself targets and long term goals whether to write a new blog post every day or to tidy your house. Break down your tasks into achievable parts, set a time span and stick to it!

Make a wall chart so you can visualise your goals, talk yourself through your plan. Use all your senses and you will create brain patterns to success.

5.    Reward Yourself

Plan rewards for every little success.
They will motivate you to achieve your goals! Be it a nice cappuccino after an hour of writing/study, a coffee machine for passing your exams or a new dress and a night out. Maybe a Ferrari for making your first million!!!!

Give it a go. Make a list, set your goals, get up and go and enjoy your rewards!!!

Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes ~ Custom Shoes~ Designer Soles

So as you may know I have a little shoe obsession, I keep buying them!!! I have also studied fashion design and like to customise and design under my label Purple Button Couture.

I don’t know how many of you have heard the Paul Simon song "Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes" those strutting around in Louboutins signature red soles might as well have diamonds on the soles of their shoes. And Irregular Choice always have some pretty little pictures on their soles. I was inspired, so I set to work!!!

My Supplies:

·        I got some plain black shoes in Penneys/Primark €15

·        Nail Polish €1.79 Essence

·        Random buttons and beads in Cork Craft Supplies

·        Some old bracelets and hairclips

·        Glue/ my trusty hot glue gun

As I tend to wear a lot of BLACK, these shoes add a nice pop of colour plus anyone who notices the designs on the soles of your shoes is worth talking to!

This is a fairly simple custom shoe project!

I simply painted the soles in the colour I had chosen… Purple!!!!

Let them dry and started gluing beads and buttons onto my shoes.

Tah Dah…

I linked these into a head piece. We all have scratched sunglasses!!! And I had some left over supplies.

So instead of throwing out these scratched aviators I simply painted them and added the same kind of buttons and beads and now I have a head piece!!

What do you think??
Thanks for reading

Blarney in Bloom

So a few months back as part of being more motivated and productive I joined the Cork Textile Network! This Saturday we set up a Arts and Craft area at Blarney in Bloom in Blarney Castle in aid of Irish Guide Dogs!

With some help from kids we made pompoms, pompom men, bracelets, magic eyes, dream catchers and paper beads!!!

These are my pompom man!!!

With a bit of help Liz Spillane felted some wool and knit a wall handing for the Irish Guide Dogs to raffle

It was a great day despite the drizzly weather! Sheltering under a leaf!

We also set up some instillations.

Like this fungus garden…

These pompom tunnels...

And this web…

And these beautiful tree cosies...

There was a Mad Hatters Tea Party made by a local primary school!

A guide dog even came to help us!!!

All in all it was an amazing day with gardening talks, garden stalls, craft stalls and food stalls!!

Thanks you to everyone who made this day possible and supporting the Irish Guide dogs!!!

What’s in my Festival Make-Up Bag? 5 Essentials

Festival Season is upon so this is what you need in your make-up bag, 5 Essentials to keep you looking your best.

1.     BB Cream

You want to look good but you don’t want to spend hours doing your make-up so this is the best option.

I just got this L’OrĂ©al Nud3e Magique BB Cream on offer in Boots, gonna try it out!

2.     Waterproof Mascara

Self explanatory, opening up your eyes and making you look awake. It is a long weekend with little sleep.

And I’m all out! It’s on the shopping list. I want to get this Catrice waterproof mascara I’ve been sneaking from over at Beauty-La-Linda

3.     Lip balm

Ideally with an SPF. Protect your lips you will be outdoors all weekend.

I’m using this Carmex Mint at the moment, its nearly gone… (hmm maybe I’ll do an empties post as I’m running out of everything) but I love its fresh feel and minty smell and it has SPF 15!

4.     SPF Sun Screen

You want good memories not sunburn and skin damage so pack some sun screen.

Choose your factor depending on your skin tone, I like the Soltan Once Face in factor 30 as it doesn’t make my eyes water like others! But this 50+ is good for fair skin. And these come in handy make-up bag friendly sizes!!!

5.     Baby Wipes

It could be a messy weekend, fix your make-up and clean the mud from your stuff for a Euro it’s worth it.

Just picked these up in Tesco while doing my food shopping!

Anything you would add to my list?
